A magnificent large Italian walnut cassone

Very heavy quality piece, the best pieces of thick walnut planks where used to build this fantastic piece, standing firm on its stunning carved lion claw feet

With wonderful inlayed figures and floral patterns in the front of the chest, each corner of the front of the chest and also the rim of the lid has inlayed wood as well

Lock and key are replaced ones and dating later than the chest

This stunning piece dates from the early 1600’s and is still in excellent condition
